The rapper’s debut album Illmatic was released in 1994 and it is considered to be one of the best hip-hop albums ever. Nas’ debut single Halftime was released in 1992, and his lyrics and rhymes attracted attention in the hip-hop community. Due to the show of 1991, Nasir managed to get the reputation of a wonder kid, so the next year MC Serch from 3rd Bass became his manager and helped him to sign the contract with Columbia Records. In fact, Large Professor went on to produce three tracks on Nas' "Illmatic", including 'Halftime' and 'It Ain't Hard To Tell', with the latter being my favorite beat on the record. Nas would obviously go on to become one of the most well known MCs of all time, but it was the Large Professor who would tinker away in the shadows, producing some well loved tracks from the early 90s. 1991 saw the release of Main Source's "Breaking Atoms", which introduced Large Professor and Nas to the world.
